Question:Coffeeman, how can I brew good coffee at home? Answer:
1. The first thilng you need is good water.
We recommend to our customers that they use bottled water, oe filtered water, not tap water.
2. The second thilng you need is a fresh roasted ground coffee.
This is important, as fresh ground coffee will offer superior flavor, body and aroma.
Be sure to grind the coffee to fit the brewer.
Cone type filters need a slightly finer grind then does a flat basket.
Percolators need a very coarse grind.
3. Brew time[extraction] is important.
This is the amount of time it takes for water to flow over the ground coffee.
Commercial brewers are usually about 3.5 minutes for about 84+ ounces of coffee.
Home brewers should have a brew time of about 3.5 - 5.5 minutes.
If your brewer takes longer, it may need to be replaced.
4. As soon as the brew cycle is complete, place the coffee in a pre-warmed insulated container.
It is best not to leave brewed coffee on a warmer, as it will continue to 'cook' the coffee and it will quickly become very bitter and acidic.
To recap.. use filtered water, use fresh coffee, brew it wilthin 5 minutes and keep it off any heat.
Enjoy, The Coffeeman
